All *_ms and *Ms values are milliseconds. Percentages use active_ms as denominator. Times are monotonic active time except wall_ms and ISO timestamps. Normalized image coordinates x,y range 0..1, origin top-left. The pointer is a proxy for interface interaction, not gaze. Blank means unavailable, never zero by implication.
Unit of analysis: participant; repeated trial means are averaged within participant and condition before cohort summaries. Unknown participant codes, early/interrupted trials and explicit exclusions are excluded by default. Duplicate assignment recordings are flagged for review, not silently discarded. No inferential significance is calculated.
Recorded JSON is authoritative. CSV is a tidy projection. Work selection includes pointer, touch and keyboard; ROI and lens dwell require a valid pointer position. Pointer samples are throttled at 50 ms; pointer_intervals retain every observed position change and integrate last observed position until the next change, leave, pause or end. This assumes the pointer remains stationary between observed events.
ROI boundaries count as inside. Each polygon is scored independently; overlapping polygons double-count overlapping time by design. Entries count outside-to-inside transitions; returns=max(0,entries-1). Lens times use the pointer centre, not the lens footprint. No ROI metrics are retrospectively invented for legacy recordings.
Active+paused=wall within floating point tolerance. Work selected+unassigned=active. Hidden-window and blur periods are paused. Manifest preserves image checksums, geometry, input environment, acquisition limits and interruptions. Browser/device colour rendering cannot be guaranteed from these values.
verify-and-recompute.py checks every file hash and recomputes work selected time from select/leave events plus ROI dwell from full pointer intervals. Truncated legacy event traces cannot reproduce full aggregate dwell; the script reports this explicitly. Full records, protocols, ROI vertices, first account, later reflection, claim/evidence/uncertainty, and capture manifest remain in records/*.json.
