The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people.
Former United States President Donald Trump in remarks to reporters after becoming the first former president to be convicted of a crime.
What To Know: A 12-person jury unanimously convicted the former president of 34 state felony counts. The judge overseeing the case will decide what, if any, sentence is imposed. Pres. Trump is likely to appeal the decision, and the appellate process could go on for years.
The convictions do not prevent him from running for president. If he wins the election, a prison sentence would not prevent him from serving as president (though it certainly would complicate matters). If he wins the election, he cannot pardon himself because presidents can only issue pardons for federal convictions.
He still faces 3 other criminal cases involving 44 federal felony counts and 10 state felony counts.
