Again we’re still working through the security apparatus that the Secret Service had in place. What potentially happened. There’s going to be a long investigation into exactly what took place and how the individual was able to get access to the location, what type of weapon he had, all that is really days, weeks and months of investigation. It is surprising. But again, to get all the details of that will come out later in the investigation.

Why It Matters: A series of maps help conceptualize the layout of a Pennsylvania political rally that ended abruptly after an assassination attempt on former President Trump, the top Republication candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. The suspected gunman, who was reportedly positioned on a nearby building approximately 400 feet away from the rally stage, shot the president in the ear, killing an attendee and injuring two others.
