Catherine, Princess of Wales, announcing Monday the completion of her chemotherapy treatment nearly nine months after first receiving abdominal surgery, which at the time officials said was not cancer related.
Why It Matters: Princess Catherine’s video marks the royal family’s latest update on her health, after she announced her cancer diagnosis via video in March. In this latest update, Princess Catherine explained that as she navigates this next chapter of her recovery process, she has shifted her focus to “stay cancer free” and that she anticipates “undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months.” While undergoing chemotherapy, the Princess of Wales made an appearance at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in July and received a standing ovation from the crowd upon entering the stadium.
Near the conclusion of today’s video update, Princess Catherine said, “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”
